District installs technology to track buses, students

An Illinois school district has introduced a student-tracking system on its school buses this year that scans students' ID cards when they enter or exit buses. The new ZPass system will be used to track elementary-school students, whose records can be viewed online by administrators. The buses also will be outfitted with GPS technology. "We can track the students and the buses down to the minute," Palos Heights District 128 Superintendent Kathleen Casey said.
