An explosion of activity in mergers and acquisitions in August, normally a quiet month, might have marked the beginning of a broader rebound for the global M&A market that could run through the end of the year, analysts said. Announced offers and deals totaled $262 billion worldwide, the biggest amount for August since 1999, according to data from Thomson Reuters.
