Zoo animals suffer as war rages in Tripoli

Signs at the Tripoli Zoo say the facility is closed for renovations and that there are no animals there, but CNN journalists discovered scores of animals in enclosures and apparently abandoned as war rages in Libya. A tiger, lions, bears, monkeys and other animals appeared malnourished and waiting for food and water; a zookeeper said that 10 of the zoo's 200 staffers had returned after seven days of fighting and were now caring for the animals.
