Screen production delays at Sharp might hamper iPhone rollout

Apple may face shortages in issuing the next iPhone given that Sharp, one of its component suppliers, reportedly has not begun mass production of displays for the handset because of manufacturing problems. Apple is scheduled to hold a Sept. 12 event, ostensibly to introduce the next iPhone. In other Apple display news, the company is said to have chosen AU Optronics and LG Display to provide screens for its expected mini-iPad, which should begin shipping in October.
