"Jekyll and Hyde" mutating cancer gene discovered

The gene, which can assist or stop tumor growth, may lead to improved diagnoses and treatments for the disease. Other cancer genes take one path, but this gene, found by a team of French and American scientists, plays dual roles. Prior to this latest research reported in the journal Nature, the gene was thought only to suppress cancer growth.
