Cable group among top bidders in airwaves auction

A consortium of cable companies has bid $2.3 billion for 132 of 1,122 FCC licenses -- including ones in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. The top offers from SpectrumCo, a partnership controlled by Comcast with minority stakes from Time Warner Inc. and Cox Communications, would allow its members to build their own wireless network.
