Army Corps to rebuild Louisiana wetlands after levee project

The Army Corps of Engineers plans to spend up to $1.1 billion to repair the environmental damage from its levee improvement program. Under federal law, the Corps must replace each acre of land damaged by levee construction with the equivalent amount of similar land. The coastal restoration and reforestation projects near New Orleans could take up to two years to complete.
