Edwards Lifesciences concludes patient enrollment for heart valve trial

Edwards Lifesciences said it completed the enrollment of 1,040 patients in a clinical trial that will compare its Sapien transcatheter valve with conventional surgical aortic valve replacement and nonsurgical therapies. The company's goal is to get U.S. approval for the device, which was cleared in Europe in 2007, by 2011.
