Experts: Recession's damage to U.K. productivity permanent

The recession has been so severe for the U.K. that productive capacity might never recover, economists said. Simon Kirby, an economist at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research, described the sharp drop in Britain's GDP as structural, rather than cyclical. "You don't regain the path you had before," he said.
