Fed's Tarullo heads overhaul of bank examinations

Daniel Tarullo, governor of the Federal Reserve and the first central bank board member tapped by President Barack Obama, is leading the charge to revamp the Fed's bank examinations. The assessments are meant to identify potential threats throughout the financial industry. Tarullo said the effort is an attempt to provide an "independent perspective for what is going on among big institutions, but also in the system."
