The karaoke business is humming along

A $1,500 karaoke machine for a New Year's party got Alexandre Taillefer wondering why karaoke tracks weren't easily available online. Months later, Taillefer's company, Stingray Digital, bought a struggling on-demand song provider with a hefty license library, and transformed it into Canada's largest broadcaster. Now with 18,000 songs in its catalog, Stingray has just signed a deal with Google that could mean "hundreds of millions of views per month," according to co-founder Eric Boyko.
