Software vendors face uphill battle against piracy in China

The creator of Tomato Garden Windows XP, one of the most popular Windows copies in China, was arrested by Chinese authorities last year for software piracy, but he remains a bona fide Internet celebrity in his home country. According to a poll conducted by Chinese Web portal Sina.com, 80% of respondents supported the Tomato Garden creators in the case and only 4.4% supported Microsoft.
