Corporate-bond issues slide as the economic outlook darkens

For the five days that ended Friday, corporate-bond sales were down 56% compared with the previous week, while no high-yield corporate debt has been sold in the U.S. since Aug. 20, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Analysts said the U.S. economic recovery is proceeding much more slowly than expected by many corporate-bond investors at the beginning of the year.
