Lenders seek a return of securitization backed by equipment leases

As transactions in equipment leasing and finance increase, lenders hope they can turn to the capital market to expand their lending capability. Namely, there is hope that asset-backed securitization of these loans will resume once investor demand is high enough. Crit DeMent, chairman and CEO of Leaf Financial, said he expects that to happen. "They like the equipment space because, compared to some other asset classes like credit cards and real estate, we have seemed to come through the recession a bit better," DeMent said.
