Report: Amazon is mulling a Web-based service for TV shows, movies

Amazon.com, according to this report, has approached entertainment conglomerates such as NBC Universal, Time Warner, News Corp. and Viacom about creating a Web-based subscription service that would offer TV shows and movies. The move would pit Amazon against other large firms looking to deliver video content via the Internet, including Netflix, Google and, perhaps, Apple.
