A checklist for principals in NYC to prepare for the school year

The list of duties is long for New York City principals, whose school year starts next week. To ensure schools are ready, the city's Education Department has issued a checklist for school leaders that includes tasks such as upgrading computers, distributing textbooks and preparing for the district's first professional-development day -- dedicated to training teachers on bringing the Common Core State Standards to the classroom.
