Eating habits play a role in food intake, study finds

People who habitually eat popcorn at the movies consumed the same amount whether it was fresh or stale, a study found. The findings in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin suggest that food habits may lead to mindless eating. Changes to disrupt consumption patterns, such as switching plate sizes and using nondominant hands when eating, may help dieters prevent excessive food intake, experts said.
