Medtech giants kick off clinical trials for heart devices

Medtronic said it has begun a U.S. trial of its Endurant stent graft, which gained premarket approval from the FDA in December and CE Mark approval in 2008. The stent graft is used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. St. Jude Medical also started patient enrollment in a clinical trial of its ST segment heart monitoring device, which tracks changes in cardiac rhythms.
