Stroke hospitalizations increase among young people, CDC says

CDC researchers found a more than one-third increase in the number of hospitalizations due to strokes among people ages 15 to 44 from 1995 to 2008. During the same period, tobacco use, diabetes and cholesterol levels all increased among adolescent and young people who suffered strokes, the lead researcher said. The study appears in the Annals of Neurology.
