Verite helps global firms prevent abuses in the supply chain

Fair-labor nonprofit Verite is establishing itself as the first call for multinational companies accused of using suppliers that violate human rights or labor standards. The group has helped companies such as Apple, Gap, Levi's and Hewlett-Packard establish sustainable procurement systems and avoid common pitfalls. "Our organization gives them the tools, techniques, approaches and information that they can use to leverage a different way of doing business," said CEO Dan Viederman.
