The One World Trade Center building has risen to 1,000 of its planned 1,776 feet. A transportation hub and a second office tower are also taking shape. One World Trade Center's lower 20 floors will be composed of reinforced concrete covered with glass to protect the structure against truck bombs. "People can begin to see that this is no longer a hole in the middle of New York, but a real place is emerging," said architect Daniel Libeskind, whose vision for the building won a design competition.
