Drugmakers bank on cancer treatments for profit

Pharmaceutical and biotech companies are investing billions of dollars in cancer drug research as profit from blockbuster drugs wanes and scientists find additional therapeutic targets. However, genetic changes in cells and varying cases of cancer on the molecular level present challenges to drugmakers hoping to grab a share of the lucrative market for next-generation cancer treatments.
