Giving sight to the blind -- via their tongues

New devices could someday allow the blind to "see" using their skin or even their tongue. Researchers claim that our sensory organs are all wired in a similar fashion, so data received via the skin can be used to stimulate the brain's vision center. Prototype devices use a camera to receive information, while a small device turns the images into tactile sensations on the tongue.
