Gum-chewing seen as helpful after C-sections

Women who have had a cesarean section might be able to get their bowels moving again by chewing sugarless gum, says a new study. Intestinal function can become sluggish after any abdominal surgery, but gum-chewing releases digestive hormones that might stimulate bowel activity, researchers say.
