Skype gets a second chance

Skype was perhaps the most promising social network two years ago, but owner eBay failed to capitalize on its potential, Mark Gimein writes. Now, the Internet phone service has a second chance under new private ownership. "Freed of eBay's corporate grasp, it will have a lot more flexibility to offer [its] service ... through a lot of new channels, partnering with Facebook, Google (which once tried to buy Skype), and other big players," he notes.
