SkyWest pilot avoids collision in Utah skies

A SkyWest Airlines pilot avoided a collision when he took the commercial jet into an emergency dive to avoid hitting a skydiving plane in Utah. The skydiving plane did not respond to air traffic controllers, who warned it was encroaching on the flight path of the SkyWest flight. According to the FAA, the two planes were separated by a mere 1/2 mile when the SkyWest plane entered the dive.
