Teen's family recalls trial use of recently approved drug

The family of a California teen with disabilities has learned of Food and Drug Administration approval for a once-experimental medication that the youth successfully used more than a decade ago. Thirteen-year-old Erin Schleich was born with tuberous sclerosis and given vigabatrin as a baby to combat infantile spasms. She was the second U.S. child to receive the drug in clinical trials.
