ASTM updates standard for special light sport aircraft

The ASTM plans to change a standard on special light sport aircraft. Special-LSAs will be prohibited from operating in actual instrument meteorological conditions, said Dan Johnson, chairman of the Light Aircraft Manufacturing Association. However, the change to the standard is not retroactive for S-LSAs flying today or built before the change goes into effect.
