Burger King deal shows Brazil's growing clout

Brazilian investors have gobbled up Burger King Holdings in a $4 billion deal that underscores the country's growing economic clout -- and highlights the emergence of an ambitious new class of Brazilian business leaders. Brazil's corporations were once mostly run by cautious, old-money elites, but in recent years a more aggressively entrepreneurial class of executives has risen to power. "Brazil's new rich are rough-hewn, self-made men from a mold that is quite familiar to Americans," notes Larry Rohter.
