The recession has driven companies to find low-cost ways to implement green-building standards -- and is highlighting just how easy it can be to reduce a building's environmental footprint, writes Rob Watson. The tough economic climate has forced construction companies to make their offerings more competitive, weeding out expensive and ineffective strategies and finding more effective low-cost options. "Mercifully, saving energy in our existing buildings is actually quite simple and relatively easy once you put your mind to it," Watson writes.
