ECB maintains rates, extends unlimited liquidity measures

The European Central Bank, led by President Jean-Claude Trichet, decided to keep interest rates at 1%, citing ongoing uncertainties about the economy. The ECB will also continue to offer banks unlimited one-week and one-month loans until early 2011 and will link interest rates on three-month loans in October, November and December to its average benchmark rate over the maturity of the loan.
