As economy falls, so does the number of illegal immigrants

Illegal immigrants entering the U.S. fell to 300,000 by 2009, down from 850,000 during the first half of the decade, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. The decline is being attributed to a recession that took its toll on available jobs and to stricter legislation.
