Employee lawsuits target high-profile NYC restaurateurs

A growing number of disgruntled New York restaurant employees have been filing lawsuits against their high-profile bosses, The Wall Street Journal reports. This week's filings brought suits against upscale Italian restaurant operators Michael White and Chris Cannon, and former "Iron Chef" star Masaharu Morimoto; an earlier lawsuit against partners Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich has grown to include 20 plaintiffs. In each case, workers allege that tip-sharing policies and practices violate the law and deprive them of income that's rightfully theirs.
