Fig trees can boost a South Florida garden

Even though edible landscaping has gained popularity, the fig tree is still a niche among gardeners in South Florida, writes Carol Cloud Bailey. The irregular shape of the tree makes it fit into formal, well-pruned landscapes. However, the fig trees can be a boost to a garden with some night-lighting and when placed where fallen fruit won't be a problem, she notes.
