Google fires a warning shot at daily-deals sites with geo-targeted offers

Facebook and Yelp are getting out of the daily-deals business, but Google appears to be doubling down. The search giant has begun posting geo-targeted discount offers on its front page, space that is usually kept blank, except when it's being used to promote Google products or public causes.
