Low-cost carriers try to persuade FAA on slot auction

Discount carriers are jockeying for position as the Federal Aviation Administration decides on how it plans to auction off take-off and landing slots at Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National and New York's LaGuardia airports. The slot auction is part of the FAA's pending deal with US Airways and Delta Air Lines, which want to swap their slot holdings at the airports. Southwest Airlines is arguing that low-cost carriers should be granted access to additional slots at the popular airports.
