N.C. could see new charter schools in 2012

The North Carolina State Board of Education has approved a fast-tracked approval process for charter schools, ensuring that new charters could open as early as next year. The decision comes after the state legislature lifted a restriction that capped the state's charter schools at 100. "It means we have some movement to the charter-school movement for the first time in 15 years," said Eddie Goodall, president of the N.C. Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
