Verizon upgrades Droid 2 phones to Android 2.3.3

Verizon Wireless on Thursday began allowing Droid 2 owners to update their phones to Android 2.3.3, also known as Gingerbread, from their previous Android 2.2 versions, telling them the new software was snappier, carried more battery life and had an improved interface. Verizon also is offering $100 rebates to basic-phone customers who upgrade to smartphones by the end of this month.
