Kashagan oilfield extraction is imminent, Total chief says

The Kashagan offshore oilfield in the Caspian Sea area of Kazakhstan is expected to begin producing oil as soon as "a few little last-minute problems" are resolved, said Total Chairman and CEO Christophe de Margerie. The oilfield, which was due to start extraction by June, is designed to produce around 370,000 barrels of oil per day. "We are optimistic now," said de Margerie.
