Parents' objectives may influence ADHD treatment

U.S. researchers surveyed 148 parents or guardians of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and found that those who aimed at improving their children's academic performance were more than twice as likely to choose medications as the first line of treatment. Meanwhile, participants whose goal was to enhance child behavior were about 1.6 times more likely to place their children on behavioral therapy. The findings appear in the journal Pediatrics.
