PCV13 vaccine is just as effective as previous version in babies

When administered along with other childhood vaccines, the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine yielded the same immune responses in babies compared with the 7-valent vaccine, U.S. researchers reported in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. They noted that PCV13 was just as safe as PCV7, with similar rates of adverse effects following vaccination.
