Tradehill puts virtual currency exchange on temporary hold

The Tradehill virtual currency exchange has suspended operations "citing unspecified banking and regulatory reasons," Crayton Harrison and Jesse Hamilton write. In August, the company registered with the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a move intended to show legitimacy in the face of virtual currency's use for buying illegal goods and money laundering. Tradehill says it will use the timeout to "upgrade, improve and polish" its trading platform.
