Windows Phone finds global converts from feature phones

Google's Android comprised 65% of global smartphone sales in the top nine global smartphone markets in the quarter ending in July, according to Kantar WorldPanel Comtech. Apple's performance was spotty, ranging from 43% in the U.S. to only 6% in Spain, while Microsoft Windows Phone has garnered 4.4% of sales globally. "Windows Phone appears to be finding new people from ... the still-large amount of feature phone users in the world, with 42% of sales coming from those making their first moves off feature phones," Ingrid Lunden writes.
