Innovations will keep hydraulic systems alive, more sustainable

Moves have been made to oust hydraulic systems with electrical ones to enhance sustainability and get rid of the "clumsy" older technology. However, now hydraulic systems are becoming more intelligent and sustainable with the addition of control software and electronics. Applications in autonomous vehicles and sealing systems could mean that the " 'dinosaurs of drive technology' might just outlive everything else," writes Josef Kurfess from Germany's Ulm University.
