Asian-Americans exceed the national average on SAT verbal

For the first time ever, Asian-Americans scored above average on both the verbal and math sections of the SAT, contradicting the stereotype that all Asian-Americans are math whizzes. Some attribute the gain on the verbal section to the greater number of Asian-Americans taking SAT preparatory classes, while others point to the growing percentage of children learning English as their first language.
