AIDS researchers told global cooperation is key to vaccine development

Scientists at an AIDS conference in Switzerland were told global cooperation is key to the development of an AIDS vaccine. "Only a vaccine can end the epidemic," said an official of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, but he noted scientists in various countries must carry out their own research to fight different strains of the disease. More than 30 AIDS vaccine candidates are in trials in 19 countries.
