Airport executives issue report on service cuts

A new report from the American Association of Airport Executives calls for radical steps -- including foreign ownership of commercial airlines -- to reverse the route cuts that have left many markets with little or no air service. The 15-page report, which includes results of the group's survey of 100 airport executives, also suggests creation of an aviation fund to subsidize service to small airports; increased passenger facility charges; and priority use of the country's strategic petroleum reserves. The full report was released today at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
