Japanese REITs eyed by U.S. private-equity firms

U.S. private-equity firms are looking to Japan for bargains in the REIT market. Japanese REITs are off 50% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange since their peak last year. "Banks (in Japan) are really loath to go into property at all now, even if the underlying fundamentals are really strong," said Peter Culliney, director of research at Real Capital Analytics.
