Imagi, a Chinese company that used to make 6 million plastic Christmas trees a year, now has 450 animators churning out computer-generated movies for half the cost of those made by Pixar and Dreamworks. Pixar's hallmark is creativity, but for Imagi it's work ethic. "We hired lots of our staff from the street. They were taxi drivers and convenience store clerks," said Yan Chen, the lead CG supervisor at the company.
