Study: Increased fiber intake reduces pre-eclampsia risk

A study of more than 1,500 women found higher fiber intake before and during early pregnancy -- 21.2 grams daily compared to less than 11.9 grams daily -- reduced the risk of pre-eclampsia by 67%. The researchers said that every 5-gram increase in daily fiber intake resulted in a 14% reduction in pre-eclampsia risk.
